V L Heathcote will admit that it is difficult to pin down who V L Heathcote is and believes facts – i.e. age, gender, colouring, build and location – are irrelevant. ‘The identity of a person is more about behaviour, passions and the courage of their convictions.’
Who Is VLH?
Obsessed by story, this author read avidly from an early age and, on discovering story could be enhanced by theatre and film, embarked on creating shows through the medium of puppetry, viewed and encouraged by adoring (or some would say, long-suffering) family and friends. A long stint of amateur dramatics, followed by a couple of minuscule professional appearances, led to a passion for directing and later, V L began to write scripts for production – starting with panto but leading on to more serious material; although it must be said that humour was never far from the subject matter. Four satirical plays were accepted for performance at the Edinburgh Fringe festival, written and directed by V L Heathcote – a highlight of an otherwise unremarkable life!
This author will also admit to being opinionated but hopes an open mind and willingness to sometimes admit to being wrong softens that particular trait. ‘Not taking oneself too seriously is vital.’ Passionate about caring for the world in which we live, V L believes it is crucial to temper the frustration that particular passion brings, with a decision to remain positive and optimistic.
Apart from the natural world, V L Heathcote also loves pulling faces, drawing, colour, cooking and theatre, is fanatical about cats and in awe of J K Rowling.
V L Heathcote loathes injustice, cruelty, racism, councils, despots and authority and isn’t very keen on snakes, (although would rather spend time with them than some people!)
V L Heathcote would have liked to be able to sing and dance expertly and has requested that ability – if reincarnation is an option – in the next life, in order to perform in the chorus line of big musicals.
V L Heathcote is convinced an end to the hierarchical pyramid form of governance and the introduction of a circular system of equal and respectful cooperation would create a much better world.
V L Heathcote finds both intelligence and humour, sexy.
V L Heathcote is not impressed by people who constantly refer to themselves and is therefore unlikely to ever say anything more about V L Heathcote.
